A West Virginia University student who wants to assist veterans who may have been wrongly discharged from service has been named a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow by the Campus Compact, a national non-profit organization that advances the public purpose of higher education to educate students for civic and social responsibility. 

Two West Virginia University faculty members who embody WVU’s land-grant mission of teaching, research and service are the recipients of WVU’s 2017 Heebink Awards for Distinguished Service to the state of West Virginia. 

While some students returned home for spring break or took much-needed vacations, others traveled the world to study abroad.

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has named two recipients of the 2016-17 Outstanding Researcher Award: Christina Duncan and Casian Pantea.

Over the last decade, the Leadership Studies Program at West Virginia University has grown from having six graduates in 2006, to approximately 60 graduates in 2016. This semester, students, faculty and staff in the Leadership Studies program are celebrating the program’s 10th anniversary as well as what it means to be a leader.

The WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has named four recipients of its 2017 Outstanding Staff Award:  Crystin “Crys” Povenski, Vicki Snively, Hope Stewart and Robin Swaney. 

The Department of English will host a reading by author Clare Beams on Monday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson Reading Room of the Downtown Campus Library. 

Bonnie Brown, instructor and Native American studies program coordinator, has been named the 2017 Eberly Outstanding Public Service Award recipient.
