After the 2016 elections, emotions were heightened and a number of students across the country found it difficult to go home for the holiday break and face family members with strong opinions that differed from their own.

Six West Virginia University faculty members have been selected for the 2017 Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching, which honors exceptional professors who go above and beyond to inspire their students. This year’s honorees are:

The WVU Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has named four recipients of its 2017 Outstanding Staff Award: Crystin “Crys” Povenski, Vicki Snively, Hope Stewart and Robin Swaney.

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has named three recipients of the 2016-17 Outstanding Teaching Award: Daniel Brewster, Kristina Hash and Alex Snow.

Amendola, coordinator of the bachelor of social work program at West Virginia University, that means sending students out into the field to learn about how a water crisis can affect a community.

The West Virginia University School of Social Work announces the 2016 fall season of professional and community education programs for social workers, nurses, counselors, psychologists and addiction and prevention professionals who wish to earn continuing education credit.

The School of Social Work and the School of Public Health at West Virginia University will host the 38th Summer Institute on Aging, June 7-9, at the Lakeview Resort and Conference Center in Morgantown.
School of Social Work Professor Samuel Leizear appointed to state board
Samuel J. Leizear, Field Education Director for the School of Social Work, has been appointed to the State Family Protection Services Board (FPSB) by Governor Tomblin for 2016-2019. This Board is responsible for the approval, licensure and on-going monitoring of Family Protection Programs, Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program and Shelters.
