This year’s annual WVU Community Human Rights Film Series will highlight two films that examine wrongful convictions, incarceration, and access to education within the U.S. criminal legal system. This year’s films explore the human impact of systemic injustice, highlighting personal stories of resilience, accountability, and transformation. 

Four Native American Studies students will discuss their research and experiences in this semester's NAS Directed Study course "Native Leadership and Contemporary Issues."

Each year, Eberly College honors faculty members with its Outstanding Teacher Awards, Outstanding Researcher Awards and the Award for Outstanding Outreach or Public Service. Recipients in each category receive a stipend to help further their research, teaching and service efforts.

Taylor Brown is studying for a doctoral degree in lifespan developmental psychology. Riley Klug, majored in anthropology while also completing programs in art history, Native American Studies and political science. Hannah Lamb is a graduate student in the WVU Master of Social Work program. Clara Monson is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in English at WVU with the goal of becoming an English professor.

Every year, students from across Eberly College are selected as Outstanding Seniors and Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants. Eberly Scholars are also chosen annually for a monetary award to help offset the cost of their education as they work to achieve their academic goals. Read about all three groups below.

The Native American Studies Program at Eberly College of Arts and Sciences will host the Peace Tree Ceremony on October 9 and a forum with Native leaders on October 10 to highlight Native Nations’ ancestral, cultural and historical connections to the land now known as West Virginia.

The West Virginia University Native American Studies Program will hold its annual Peace Tree Ceremony Wednesday, September 21 at 12 p.m. at the WVU Peace Tree located between Martin and Elizabeth Moore Halls. The ceremony is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Native American Studies Program at West Virginia University will hold its annual Peace Tree Ceremony Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. with guest of honor Mervyn L. Tano, an attorney who for the past 25 years has served as president of the International Institute for Indigenous Resource Management, a law and policy research institution based in Denver.

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences has recognized 64 outstanding seniors, graduate teaching assistants and graduating Eberly Scholars for their academic achievements in 2020-2021.
