How to Make a Career Consultation Appointment

Meet one-on-one with an Eberly Career Development coach, virtually or in person. Book your appointment in Handshake.

If none of the available times work with your schedule, email us and we’ll do our best to find a time that does.

Schedule an appointment in Handshake

  1. Go to wvu.joinhandshake.com, choose West Virginia University Sign On, and log in with your WVU username and password.
  2. Select Career Center, choose Eberly Career Development Center, then select Appointments.
  3. Choose Request appointment.
  4. Pick the appointment type that fits what you’d like to discuss.
  5. Choose a date and time that works for you.
  6. Tell us briefly what you’d like to talk about, and choose virtual or in person.
  7. Select Request. You’ll get an email once your appointment is confirmed.

Using the Handshake app? Tap your account icon, then Career Center and Appointments, and follow the same steps.

Can’t make it? Cancel in Handshake under Career Center > Appointments as early as you can, so another student can take the time.

Get the most from your appointment

Career coach tips

  • Come with one or two questions or goals in mind.
  • Have your resume, cover letter or the job posting ready if you’d like feedback on them.
  • For virtual appointments, test your video link a few minutes early.
  • Bring a notebook. You’ll leave with next steps.
