STEM Learning Center

Clark Hall, Chemistry Research Laboratory (Ground Floor)

The primary mission is to support all WVU STEM students, but it also serves all instructors and students who have a STEM-related need. The STEM Learning Center is supported by the Foundational STEM Collaborative which serves as a hub for all foundational STEM courses required by over forty-seven science-focused undergraduate degree programs at West Virginia University.

The STEM Learning Center is a great place to meet learning assistants who can help with any questions, but also a quiet place to study. You can even get your heart pumping holds while studying. The Collaborative also runs science-themed events open to all students (Slime, Excel workshops etc.).

Questions to Ask What does calculus have to do with real life? How to I calculate my grade? I need to pass Organic Chemistry, but I don’t seem to make progress, what can I do? I am a humanities major, why should I know about Excel?

Eberly Writing Studio

G02 Colson Hall

The Eberly Writing Studio is the place where students come to consult with our team of faculty and learning consultants to receive help with all things writing. The principles of our SpeakWrite Program are integrated in many courses in the College but are a must in every Eberly Edge course. In keeping with the Eberly Edge Program, writing, oral and presentational skills for all occasions are part of any activity sponsored by the program.

Questions to Ask I have been selected to make a presentation to a wide audience about my Capstone project, how do I make complex materials accessible to everyone? I lost several points on my research paper because my arguments weren’t clear, how to I fix this? My instructor told me I wasn’t using AI ethically in my writing; how can I both use AI and meet the learning goals of the course.

Eberly Center for Career Development

217 Hodges Hall (Second Floor)

The center is ready from day one to assist our freshman preparing for the next step. Our team of specialists are especially trained to speak to students about internships and future career opportunities. The Center organizes Job Fairs for all our majors, events to enhance resumés, cv and cover letters. Our specialists are active in national organizations where employers engage with universities to communicate the skills that they seek out in job applicants.

Questions to Ask As shy as I am, I worry that I won’t interview well; do you have any tips? What should I wear for my first day on my internship? How do I negotiate a job offer? How useful is it to speak with you before applying for a job?
