Eberly staff members receive 2023 Outstanding Staff Award

Miranda Heitz and Barb Reiprich have been named 2023 recipients of the Eberly College of Arts and Science Outstanding Staff Award.

Outstanding Staff Award recipients are nominated by their peers at Eberly College and are selected based on their demonstration of WVU’s core values: service, curiosity, respect, accountability and appreciation.

miranda heitzHeitz, an Academic Program Assistant in the Department of Physics & Astronomy, is widely known for her welcoming attitude and the excellent quality of her work. Her nominators describe her as solution-oriented, supportive, kind and friendly.

One of her many nominators wrote, “Miranda goes above and beyond with every aspect of her job. Her position is so important, as she is the first person people meet in our department. We are so lucky to have her in this role. She is not only very friendly and welcoming but goes above and beyond to anticipate the needs of visitors… She has also really grown the sense of community in the department through organizing things like Thanksgiving hand turkey drawing and Christmas snowflake making.”

barb Reiprich Barb Reiprich is the Administrative Assistant for the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. She is credited with maintaining departmental accountability, and she frequently steps up to fill needs within the team.

“Barb is the constant community builder in our department, she demonstrates the values of appreciation daily,” wrote one of her nominators. “The ways she goes above and beyond to show support for others is unparalleled in our unit.”

Another nominator wrote, “My career would not be where it is today without Barb's kindness, assistance, and wisdom. She is one of the most valuable citizens of our department, one who tirelessly works to help make WVU a welcoming, vibrant institution of higher learning.”
