Scope of Work Forms

Scope of works (SOWs) detail an agreement between a researcher and independent contractor or client. If your proposal involves subcontractors or sub-recipients, you need to create a SOW as part of the application package. It must be approved and signed by both parties. Your SOW document may include the following information (with the level of detail varying by sponsor and project):

• Contact information for the independent contractor or client
• Dates of service to be provided
• Maximum dollar amount
• Payment terms
• Description of work to be performed
• Performance and outcome measures
• Deliverables and deadlines
• Payment schedule (provide dates of periodic payments, if needed)
