Pardon Me? The Politics and Ethics of Pardon
The presidential pardon power is the topic of much recent debate. Based on a recent article in The Conversation, two members of the Department of Philosophy, Scott Davidson and Dan Miller, will facilitate a discussion of the concept of pardon. What is the purpose of this power? And can it be abused? More deeply, should it even exist within a society governed by the rule of law? Extending beyond the political realm, this discussion will also examine the role of pardon within our everyday lives.
This event is hosted by the Speculation Academy in the Department of Philosophy.
