Submit Calendar Events

How to submit and update  events

  1. Visit:  https://cal.wvu.edu/
Sign in using your WVU Login credentials and click on the button labeled Submit an event.
  2. Populate the event form with as much information as possible and be sure to set a descriptive title, select your department, and complete other classification details as appropriate. You'll also need to include a plain-text summary of your event description for use on the InfoStations digital signage network where indicated.

  3. Click on the button labeled  Submit Event to complete your event submission.

Important options to complete when creating an event:

  1. Location - Experience
Make sure you're using this field to say if it's In-Person, Virtual, or a Hybrid event
  2. Location - Event Place
Type out the name of the building, and it should show up. It doesn't work with location acronym.
  3. Photo
Do use an image that depicts your event, even if it is a more generic stock photo.
    1. Create a horizontal 3x2 aspect ratio a minimum of 1500x1000
    2. Do not use photos with text or flyers.
    3. You may include a QR code in the image for Infostation viewers. The QR code should be centered horizontally and include space for margin on the the edges. See example event image
  4. Use as many classification types on the event as necessary (event type, topic, etc). The more complete the event is filled out, the more likely it is to be posted on different calendars and promoted throughout WVU.
  5. Departments
choose both Eberly College of Arts and Sciences AND your department
  6. Keywords - Administrator Only Option
For common misspellings and SEO, only - these keywords are not going to be visible to the public.
  7. Tags -  Administrator Only Option
Visible to the public. Be sure to use this consistently to label events. Tags can be used to create custom lists on your website. Tags are also useful for ongoing lecture or seminar series, or events that happen often but are not consecutive events.
