Eberly College's academic programs move into Field and Hodges Halls

 

Several academic programs within the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences have new homes beginning in Fall 2024.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Department of Communication Studies, the School of Social Work and the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies are now housed in the newly renovated Field Hall. 

Field Hall, previously the home of the WVU College of Business and Economics, is named in honor of the football stadium that once stood next to Woodburn Circle.

The building opened for business last week and features newly renovated spaces throughout. It contains multiple classrooms and lecture halls, an anthropology lab space, administrative and faculty offices, graduate student offices, conference rooms and several seating areas for students to gather and work.

In addition to Eberly programs, Field Hall houses the WVU Advance Center and the Women’s Resource Center.

Eberly College’s Department of Philosophy, Program for Religious Studies and Multidisciplinary Studies Programs have relocated from Arnold Hall. These programs have joined the programs for World Languages and Native American Studies on the fourth floor of Hodges Hall.

The Leadership Studies Program has also relocated from Arnold Hall to Woodburn Hall, joining the Department of Political Science and the International Studies Program on the third floor.

“We are delighted to have these important academic units located in an improved space that will better serve their needs. Their new location on WVU’s downtown campus allows for increased student access and will create better synergy across all of Eberly’s academic units,” said Gregory Dunaway, Dean of the Eberly College. “I want to thank our faculty and staff who worked over the summer to help facilitate these moves. I particularly want to thank Julie Frum, Coordinator of Facilities, and Eberly’s information technology team, specifically Robert Phipps and Cody Mitchell, for their hard work and assistance throughout the entire moving process.”
