Samm Jusino, Ph.D.

Samm Jusino is a first-generation college graduate from Pennsauken, NJ. She earned her Ph.D. in Education from West Virginia University in 2019 focusing on developing scientific literacy in authentic writing in first year STEM students. She served as an instructor and advisor in Biology department from 2018-2022 and then moved into the Dean’s Office to focus on advising at the college level. She currently serves as the Director of Undergraduate Advising for the Eberly College where she oversees advising in the college, CPoS, graduation certification, academic records, and the probationary/suspension programming, as well as professional development for academic advisors. 

Samm aims to improve advising, retention, and student success in the college. She serves on multiple committees including Academic Advising Council Executive Committee, Student Success Task Force, and Chairs the Eberly Academic Advising Advisory Board. She also organizes and oversees the New Student Orientation Advising efforts for the Eberly College. Her current research includes developing a framework for academic advisors to have difficult conversations with students in a productive manner and develop trainings on how to navigate those conversations.
