The WVU Department of Geology and Geography hosted a workshop, “Framing the Methodological Foundations for Deep Mapping and Spatial Storytelling” May 23-24, exploring how to integrate culture and community into geographic information science (GIS).
Scholars from England, Ireland and across the United States attended the workshop, in person and virtually, to discuss how deep mapping--- the method of combining recorded history and culture with detailed GIS --- helps researchers better understand an area and the impact of community development and other factors on an area.
