Data Management Plans

NSF and other agencies now require a data management plan as part of any grant application. A data management plan describes what kind of data will be collected from the researcher’s project, how the researcher plans to index the data in a public repository for future use and what lasting impact or application the data will have. Data preservation is also congruent with WVU’s land-grant commission to disseminate research conducted at the University for the benefit of the community.

On this page, you will find resources for writing and structuring your data management plan and finding a place to archive and distribute your research. The ECAS Research Office is happy to meet with you to discuss plans for your data, help you find the right repository and help configure your data management plan according to organizational standards.
