Financial Aid
Assistantships
WVU annually awards about 1,700 graduate assistantships. Tuition is waived for graduate assistants. All graduate assistants are required to be full-time (nine hours or more) graduate students. Graduate teaching and research assistantships are normally awarded by individual departments. Apply for these positions beginning in the fall. Assistantships are generally granted for a period of nine to twelve months. Many units employ teaching assistants for both lectures and laboratories, while others assist with labs and faculty research. Applications should be made to the program units offering the assistantships.
In addition, the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences provides financial support for graduate students to attend and present their findings at professional conferences.
